Designed and machined by CaptainSlug, ABP5K (Actuated Breech Pistol 5000) was a truly semi-automatic experimental homemade Nerf blaster constructed out of primarily polycarbonate. It was made to be compatible with stock Longshot magazines. As an experimental platform it was used to evaluate and discover the baseline figures for blast chamber volumes and passageway areas needed to effectively fire darts from a regulated air source. Air-powered homemades have been typically constructed from pipe fittings and pipe with very little work put into scientifically evaluating why a given designs performs effectively.
This gun was meant to be used with an external air source such as a high capacity compressed air tank with an adjustable regulator or a compressor. http://www.captainslug.com/nerf/abp5k_99995.jpg
The prototype is currently missing somewhere in Ontario, Canada. Please contact the rightful owner if found.
It is currently unknown as to whether or not another will be made, although it seems unlikely at this point. Data gathered from the single prototype is currently being used to develop newer more efficient and war-capable designs.
