Rubber diaphram powered ball blaster with abysmal range, but good accuracy. The hemispherical diaphragm has a small "hammer" connected to the center, with a catch for the trigger molded in the to back. Impact from a ball ejected from an Atom Blaster is commonly held as one of the most embarrassing methods of exiting a nerf round.
Interesting fact: The patent for this was developed by a physics professor at M.I.T., and subsequently sold to Hasbro.
