Sara

Sara is a Level 4 crossbow owned by User:Cmdrmack. She boasts an added spring of unknown origin, fully reinforced internals, 3/4 in. OD Aluminum barrels (chambered for megas, and an integrated Big Salvo based on User:Groove's Guru and his own Bigger Salvo.

She started out with a telescoping brass barrel, but this was not an adequate fit for Cmdrmack's playing style, and he continued to use his Longshot as his primary. She then moved to a telescoping coupler, with a 1/2 CPVC coupler nested inside a 1/2 PVC coupler to accommodate both micro-dart barrels and mega-dart barrels, with 5 in. PVC barrels to fire the megas. This set-up worked well, but made for and extended reload time, so Cmdrmack looked for something that was a closer fit that the 1/2 PVC he had been using. 3/4 in OD Aluminum tubing was the answer, and was immediately implemented. The coupler set-up proved to be unstable, so Cmdrmack removed the 1/2 CPVC coupler and used the 1/2 PVC coupler exclusively.

In the third stage of her modification, Cmdrmack decided to try an integration. That's when he opted to combine two of his favorite guns: the Bigger Salvo and the Crossbow. The Bigger Salvo is seated on the same side as the Crossbows internals, and is attached, more or less permanently, to that side. The Barrels are attached to both sides to give an even, shotgun-like blast. In order to be able to reopen the gun for maintenance, the air-tanks are attached via CPVC and couplers, so that they have a measure of removability. This current set-up is untested in battle.

Sara is named for an elementary school girlfriend of Cmdrmack's, and sports a red paintjob to match the original Sara's red hair.
